A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Washington County on October 4, 2024. The request was made by Keystone Today, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request sought access to specific public records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq. Specifically, Keystone Today requested a list of all voters newly registered in the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
As representatives of Keystone Today, we believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we have requested a fee waiver for this information as per standard practice.
We await the response from Washington County and will continue our commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
