A former resident of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Terron Slatton, 26, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. The sentence will be followed by 10 years of supervised release. Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab handed down the sentence.
According to court information, in December 2022, Slatton used a messaging application to contact a 10-year-old girl from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He persuaded and enticed her to engage in sexual activity and solicited sexually explicit images from her during online conversations. Slatton also suggested meeting the child in person for sex. Authorities arrested him at his home in Tennessee after obtaining federal arrest and search warrants.
Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted the case for the government.
First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti said, “I commend Homeland Security Investigations–Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Slatton.”
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
