Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia hosted The Runway, a contemporary lunchtime fashion show curated by top Philadelphia-area boutiques and designers, at The Bellevue Hotel on May 29. The event raised more than $1.1 million to benefit the Harriet and Ronald Lassin Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

The fundraiser featured a pop-up trunk show with one-of-a-kind goods and included participation from local celebrities, clinicians, patients, and supporters who modeled the season’s latest fashions. Event co-chairs Jody Abrams and Sabrina Thorne addressed attendees during the gathering.

Reporters from 6ABC also participated in the event, including Katherine Scott, Sharifa Jackson, Briana Smith, Alyana Gomez, and Maggie Kent. Lynne and Bill Garbose presented the event.

Eric C. Eichenwald, MD, Chief of the Division of Neonatology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said, “At CHOP, we know that having a baby admitted to the N/IICU can be an overwhelming experience for parents. Our team tries to anticipate every possible need of a N/IICU baby and caregiver. Beyond the core medical providers, other N/IICU team members include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, child life specialists, social workers, chaplains, music therapists and psychologists. The Runway is a celebration – it gives us the chance to celebrate the creativity of our fashion partners, the resilience of our patients and the impact we make when we come together.”

Both newborn intensive care units at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Philadelphia and King of Prussia locations have technology and teams equipped to provide care for babies with health issues related to prematurity; birth defects; lung, heart or gastrointestinal conditions; as well as other disorders.
