The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is set to alter traffic patterns on Interstate 80 in Centre County for a bridge replacement project. The changes will occur between mile markers 166 and 168, starting Tuesday, July 8. This initiative aims to improve the ride quality of Interstate 80, Route 1010 (Huber Ridge Road), and Sand Ridge Road, while replacing four bridges over Huber Ridge and Sand Ridge roads.

Drivers using I-80 westbound should anticipate delays as the contractor transitions from a left lane closure to a right lane closure on July 8. Eastbound traffic will see a similar change from left to right lane closures on Thursday, July 10.

The project involves concrete and asphalt paving, milling and paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and other construction activities. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., based in State College, PA, is handling this $22 million project expected to last through the 2026 construction season.

Motorists can access real-time road conditions at www.511PA.com or via the 511PA smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices. The service offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
