United States Attorney David Metcalf announced on May 20 that two Philadelphia men have been sentenced to prison for a series of armed robberies and attempted robberies in the Philadelphia area.

Tyler Nichols, age 31, received a sentence of 20 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay $5,158.72 in restitution by United States District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer. His co-defendant, Dadisi Williams, age 33, was sentenced last month by Judge Weilheimer to 15 years in prison, two years of supervised release, and the same amount in restitution.

Nichols and Williams were indicted in April 2025 on four counts of robbery interfering with interstate commerce under the Hobbs Act and two counts of using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence. According to the announcement, Williams pleaded guilty to all charges this January while Nichols was convicted by a federal jury that same month.

Court filings detail that both men committed several offenses at gunpoint: the September 19, 2024 robbery of a Family Dollar on Lancaster Avenue; the September 27 robbery at an AutoZone on City Avenue in Lower Merion Township; an attempted robbery at another Family Dollar on City Avenue on October 6; and an attempted robbery at a Family Dollar on Haverford Avenue on October 11.

The investigation involved the Philadelphia Police Department, Lower Merion Township Police Department, and FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Amanda Reinitz and Sandra Urban prosecuted the case.

These sentences reflect ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address violent crime involving firearms within commercial establishments.
