Villanova University announced on April 9 that it will hold a series of activities, workshops, and lectures from April 14 through April 24 in honor of Earth Week 2026.
The university said these events are designed to encourage the campus community to reflect on humanity’s relationship with the planet and to consider ways to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into daily life.
Each spring, Villanova Sustainability leads these initiatives. The university highlighted its ongoing commitment to sustainability, referencing President Rev. Peter M. Donohue’s signing of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment in 2007 and the establishment of the Villanova Sustainability Leadership Council in 2018. The council was formed to create a ten-year plan aimed at supporting both people and the planet.
Villanova has also joined the Laudato Si’ Action Platform and is developing a customized Laudato Si’ Plan as part of its efforts toward sustainable living. The university described its vision as working toward an ethos where sustainability is central to all actions, stating that as an Augustinian Catholic institution it is committed “to generating and advocating sustainable action to help create a future that provides enough, for all, forever.”
Founded in 1842, Villanova University serves more than 10,000 undergraduate, graduate, and law students across six colleges.
