Villanova University announced on April 28 the appointment of Liz Kennedy Walsh as Vice President for University Communication and Marketing, with her term beginning on August 17.
The announcement follows a national search that drew candidates from across the country. The university said Walsh brings more than twenty years of experience in integrated marketing, communications, and enrollment strategy at higher education institutions.
Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, President of Villanova University, said, “I am pleased to welcome Liz back to Villanova in this important leadership role. Liz’s deep understanding of Villanova, her strategic vision, and her demonstrated leadership at the Cabinet level distinguished her throughout the search process. Her expertise in reputation management, executive communications, and institutional positioning will be invaluable as Villanova continues to advance its mission and strategic priorities.”
Walsh will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and act as chief communications and marketing officer for the university. In this position she will oversee public relations, marketing publications, web presence, social media strategy, content development and advancement communication efforts. She is expected to work closely with senior leadership on brand management and public affairs.
Previously serving as Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management at St. Joseph’s University—and earlier holding an associate vice president role at Villanova—Walsh has led initiatives related to enrollment growth strategies and major integration projects within higher education organizations.
In response to her appointment Walsh said: “I am beyond thrilled to return to Villanova, a place that has shaped both my professional life and my family in profound ways. I am honored to return to the University and to work alongside Father Peter, University leadership and colleagues across campus to help advance Villanova’s mission, amplify its impact and tell its story with clarity and purpose during this important moment in the University’s ongoing evolution.”
