The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced new weight restrictions for two bridges in Bradford County. The changes are based on recent inspections that suggest heavier vehicles could harm the structures.

On Leraysville Road (Route 1049) in Windham Township, a weight limit of 20 tons for single units and 30 tons for combination units will be enforced. This bridge, built in 1958, carries fewer than 900 vehicles daily.

Similarly, Cadis Road (Route 1040) in Warren Township will have a weight limit of 16 tons for single units and 29 tons for combination units. This bridge, constructed in 1950, sees less than 300 vehicles each day.

According to PennDOT, “the posting is being made based on recent bridge inspection indicating that vehicles over this weight may damage the integrity of the structure or accelerate the deterioration.”
