Rep. Parke Wentling announced on Apr. 15 that Sharon will receive $3 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to replace 171 catch basins in the city.

The funding is intended to support improvements to the local sewer system, including removing existing structures and installing new precast concrete catch basins with gates and frames, as well as necessary pavement restoration. Wentling said, “The $3 million from PENNVEST is a major boost for this project in Sharon, which will help make necessary improvements to our sewer system.”

PENNVEST provides financial assistance for projects that aim to improve public health and safety, protect the environment, promote economic development, and enhance water quality.

According to the official website, Wentling lives in Greenville with his wife Jennifer and their two children. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education emphasizing instructional technology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania according to the official website.

Wentling serves as Republican vice chairman of the Game and Fisheries Committee and Republican chair of both the Subcommittee on Parks in the Environmental Resources and Protection Committee and Subcommittee on Townships in the Local Government Committee according to his official biography. He spent 17 years working as an educator in the Wilmington Area School District according to his official biography.

The PENNVEST grant is expected by officials to help advance infrastructure upgrades that may benefit residents through improved water management.
