WAYNE COUNTY: Officials Urge Those Who Asked for Mail-in Ballot to Send in Before Election

Vote 1

Wayne County issued the following announcement on May 21.

Wayne County Commissioners and Bureau of Elections Director Cindy Furman remind residents of Wayne County the law has changed regarding your ability to vote at the polls if you’ve requested either a mail-in or absentee ballot.

If you are one of the thousands who have requested and received either an absentee or mail in ballot, you will not be able to vote using a regular ballot at the polling place on June 2. If you show up and you have already filed a mail in or absentee ballot you will not be permitted to cast another ballot. If you received a mail in or absentee ballot but never filled it out or mailed it back you will only be given a provisional ballot to fill out at the polling place.

“We urge everyone who has applied for and received a mail in or absentee ballot to please fill it out and mail it back to us. We must be in possession of these ballots by 8 p.m. on June 2,” said Furman. “If you don’t have it back to us and you show up on election day you will be given a provisional ballot at your polling place and those votes will not be counted for at least three days until we verify that your ballot was not received.”

In addition, registered Democrat and Republican voters in Prompton Borough and Dyberry, Lebanon, and Mount Pleasant townships will be casting their ballots in different locations this Primary Election.

  • Prompton voters will cast their ballots at the Seeelville Fire Hall, 1200 Bridge St., Honesdale;
  • Dyberry Township voters will cast their ballots at the Wayne County Fairgrounds Main Office, 270 Miller Drive, Honesdale;
  • Lebanon Township voters will cast their ballots at the Pennsylvania Game Commission Office, 2263A Great Bend Turnpike, Honesdale; and
  • Mount Pleasant Township voters will cast their ballots at the Mount Pleasant Township Municipal Building, 128 Pleasant View, Pleasant Mount.
