As Joe Biden travels to Pennsylvania on Saturday, here are two critical questions he should be asked.
Why would Pennsylvania trust Biden on Energy?
The most consequential event of Thursday’s debate in Nashville was Biden’s statement that if he’s elected, America will “transition away from oil” by 2025. This shocking admission seems to settle Biden’s argument with himself, because he had previously tried to be on every side of energy policy. When he caters to gas workers in Western Pennsylvania, he claims to protect their interests. But when he appeals to his far-left radical environmentalist “Squad” supporters, he turns decidedly against fossil fuels.
His newest debate bomb comports with the preponderance of evidence and public statements from Joe Biden that point to an all-out assault on the US energy industry and particularly on fracking. In February of this year, Biden pledged to “phase out” fracking. Similarly, in a Democratic primary debate last year, Biden agreed that there would be “no place” for fracking in a Biden administration. He also awkwardly asked a supporter to “look into my eyes” and said “I guarantee you we're going to end fossil fuels."
In addition, Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris has always been consistently anti-fracking. She said “there’s no question I am in favor of banning fracking”? So, why would Keystone State voters endanger 600,000 Pennsylvania jobs that rely on energy?
Why would Pennsylvania Catholics help Biden target nuns again?
When Joe Biden was vice-president, his administration directly harassed and intimidated the Little Sisters of the Poor, an amazing group of Catholic nuns dedicated to serving the elderly poor in homes across the world. These holy women became the victims of an all-out assault from the federal government, including costly litigation, to try to force them to pay for drugs considered immoral by the Catholic Church, including pharmaceutical abortifacients. Importantly, the Little Sisters were not, at all, trying to prohibit their lay employees from living their private lives in any fashion they choose. But, the Sisters rightly asserted that government cannot coerce their group to finance drugs considered forbidden by Church teaching.
Thankfully, the Little Sisters recently won at the highest court, as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump Administration and the nuns, ruling that they do indeed enjoy a religious liberty exemption from paying for such services. Stunningly, immediately after that ruling in July of this year, Joe Biden declared that he was “disappointed in today’s Supreme Court decision” and vowed to, once again, target the Little Sisters and restore the Obama/Biden regulations once again. Why would heavily Catholic Pennsylvania hand Joe Biden the power to again intimidate these wonderful women?
