CARBON CHAMBER & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION: $1.18m available as Carbon launches 2nd Round of COVID Block Grants

Grant

Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation issued the following announcement on Oct 21.

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners announces the opening of its 2nd round of applications for the COVID-19 Relief (Carbon) County Block Grant Program.

Carbon County is accepting electronic applications 16-30 OCT 2020. Applications, instructions, how-to videos, and updated eligibility requirements are located on the Block Grant Portal accessed from Www.CarbonCounty.com.

During the 2nd round, priority of grants will go to first time applicants. Previous applicants may apply to offset additional COVID related expenses and lost revenue incurred after their first submission; however, no awardee is eligible for a combined total in excess of $100,000.

The block grant program allows the county to provide funding for the planning and response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The CARES Act requires that Coronavirus Relief Fund money be used for expenditures that (1) were necessary expenditures incurred due to the COVID-19 public health emergency; (2) were not accounted for in the budget most recently approved as March 27, 2020; and (3) were incurred, during the period that begins on March 1, 2020, and ends on December 30, 2020.

During the first round, the Board of Commissioners approved $4.49M of grants to 189 entities in the categories of small business, non-profit, tourism, municipality, and behavioral health.

Questions concerning the block grant program should be directed to the Block Grant Administrative Cell (BGAC) at (570) 325-3611.
