Republican efforts to force Gov. Tom Wolf to withdraw the certification of the presidential election results have gone in vain following a judge’s ruling on Wednesday.

The petitioners could not demonstrate “a clear right to relief or likelihood of prevailing on the merits because their underlying action, although styled as a complaint seeking a writ of mandamus, is really an improper and untimely election contest,” according to Commonwealth Court Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt.

The Daryl Metcalfe-led group recently filed the case, which according to Leavitt, was supposed to be contested before the Nov. 23 deadline.

The 11 members argued that there was imbalance in the county’s election officials as more Democrats dominated the team, that, topped off by other allegations of election irregularities and violations was reason enough to “prevent an accurate accounting of the election results in the presidential election,” the group said.

Jesse Morgan’s affidavit was also included in the case, but proved to be of little value as evidenced by the judge’s ruling. Morgan, a Postal Service, contractor claims he was instructed to transport completed Pennsylvania ballots from New York to Pennsylvania, he was however, unaware of what happened to the said ballots.

Gov. Wolf’s spokesperson accused the Republicans of spreading disinformation and ignoring reality. In yet another twist of events, the Supreme Court ruled against Republicans and dismissed their lawsuit appeal in Nevada.
