Jerome Marcus, President Donald Trump’s attorney on one of his lawsuits challenging the election results, filed a motion requesting to withdraw as Trump’s counsel.
Marcus’ decision to resign was announced after the chaos at the Capitol building on Jan. 6.
In his motion, he cited a Pennsylvania statute on professional conduct which reads “inasmuch as the client has used the lawyer’s services to perpetrate a crime and the client insists upon taking action that the lawyer considers repugnant and with which the lawyer has a fundamental disagreement.”
The storming on the Capitol immediately came after the Save America Rally on the Ellipse where Trump addressed his supporters and allegedly incited them to a violent protest of Joe Biden’s certification of victory.
Several members of the Trump administration have resigned since the failed insurrection.
Marcus represented the Trump Campaign in its suit against the Philadelphia County Board of Elections, accusing the board of blocking poll watchers and campaign representatives from observing the ballots, which the lawsuit defines as “intentionally violating state law.”
