Older Pennsylvanians and Quaker State residents with disabilities were reminded by Gov. Tom Wolf to apply by the Dec. 31 deadline for a one-time bonus rebate for rent or property taxes.

According to a release by Wolf, the rebate is through the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTTR) program and it comes along with the normal annual rebate. The bonus will be equal to 70% of the original rebate. Funds are through the American Rescue Plan Act funds and total $140 million.

“This is the only year that these one-time bonus rebates are available, and Pennsylvanians only have two months left to apply for this important program,” Wolf said. “The past few years have been hard on Pennsylvanians, especially for those trying to make ends meet on a fixed income. I proposed these bonus rebates to help thousands of older Pennsylvanians and Pennsylvanians with disabilities deal with inflation and higher prices, and, most important, stay in their homes.”

Those who were eligible for the program and already filed the PA-1000 application for a rebate last year are qualified and do not need to take any more action. This will be handled accordingly by the Department of Revenue.

Those who have not applied can do so online or print out an application. People can find help applying by going to Department of Revenue district offices, Area Agencies on Aging, legislators’ offices and senior centers.

Applications can be found by going to myPATH at https://mypath.pa.gov/_/. There are also paper applications and information available at www.revenue.pa.gov/pttr.

“When you factor in the one-time bonus rebates and the annual rebates paid to claimants for rent or property taxes paid in 2021, we have already distributed more than $323 million this year to Pennsylvanians who benefit from the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program,” said Revenue Secretary Dan Hassell. “If you’re one of the eligible Pennsylvanians who has yet to submit an application, act now so that you can take advantage of the rebate program and the additional bonus that Gov. Wolf worked to make possible this year.”
