The seventh Female Veterans Day Ceremony is part of Women’s History Month in March, and the Pennsylvania Commission for Women is now accepting nominations for Pennsylvania women who have served at least four years in the military.

According to a release by Gov. Tom Wolf on Nov. 29, nominees must be a current resident of Pennsylvania and can have served in any U.S. military branch. The deadline is Jan. 6 for nominations.

“It’s an honor to join the Commission for Women in celebrating Pennsylvania’s female veterans this year, and every year,” Gov. Wolf said. “It’s important for all of us to come together to recognize the sacrifices our female veterans make to serve our commonwealth and our nation, and to thank our female veterans for their dedication to protecting their fellow Americans.”

Commission Executive Director Moriah Hathaway said she is looking forward to meeting the nominees and celebrating their accomplishments.

“Every year in March, the Pennsylvania Commission for Women recognizes outstanding women who have served in every branch of the military,” Hathaway said. “It is a true honor to award these selfless women for their bravery and dedication to our nation.”
