A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Philadelphia County regarding detailed information on absentee ballots for the upcoming general election on November 5, 2024. The request was made by Keystone Today, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
Keystone Today is seeking extensive data related to absentee, early voting, overseas, military and other types of ballots that were sent out to voters. This includes personal details such as voter ID, registration date, age or date of birth, full name including any suffixes, registration status and reason for it. The organization also requested contact information like address, city, state, phone number and email address along with party affiliation.
Moreover, Keystone Today is interested in specifics about the ballot itself. They asked for the absentee status, ballot ID and the election date for which the ballots were sent. Furthermore, they want to know the type of request made (absentee, mail-in, early voting or overseas), when the ballot was requested and sent out as well as when it was returned. Lastly, they are looking for information about the final status of each ballot – whether it was accepted or rejected.
The team at Keystone Today stressed that access to public records is crucial for their work in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a member of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, they believe they are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
Keystone Today continues its commitment towards providing comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs through this latest FOIA request.
