A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Montgomery County on October 7, 2024. The request was made by Keystone Today, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the pursuit of transparency and accountability, we at Keystone Today have requested access to FOIA logs sent to Montgomery County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. The requested records fall under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., and are preferably sought in an electronic format.
The specific fields requested within these logs include the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA request.
As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news for public consumption, access to such public records is essential for us at Keystone Today. These records allow us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency for the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under relevant laws.
