FOIA Request to McKean County Regarding Access to FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Keystone Today have formally requested access to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs sent to McKean County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024.
The request was made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, which mandates that public records be accessible for scrutiny by citizens and media organizations alike. We have specifically asked for these logs in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
The specific fields we are interested in examining include the requester's name and organization, the content of their request, the date of their request and its completion date, as well as the status of their FOIA application.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these records is essential for us. We believe that our role in disseminating information qualifies us for a fee waiver as a media professional under this law.
We await response from McKean County officials regarding our request. Our goal remains steadfast - to bring light into the workings of local government and ensure that public institutions remain accountable and transparent in their operations.
