The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent advocate for small businesses in Pennsylvania, has issued a statement as the new session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly begins. Greg Moreland, NFIB Pennsylvania State Director, highlighted the current challenges faced by small businesses in the state.

"As the General Assembly convenes today, small businesses throughout the Commonwealth are managing rising business costs, hiring challenges, and burdensome regulations," Moreland stated. He emphasized the importance of avoiding legislation that could worsen these issues and instead urged lawmakers to focus on policies that would promote economic growth.

Recent research from NFIB indicates an increase in small business optimism in December, reaching its highest level since June 2021 following recent elections. The study revealed that 20% of business owners identified inflation as their most significant operational problem due to higher input and labor costs. This concern has overtaken labor quality as the primary issue by one point.
