The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), recognized as Pennsylvania’s leading small business advocacy organization, has published its 2023-24 Pennsylvania Legislative Voting Record. This record evaluates 20 key votes in the General Assembly concerning significant issues affecting small businesses.

Greg Moreland, NFIB Pennsylvania State Director, explained the purpose of this voting record: “NFIB’s voting record tracks whether Pennsylvania lawmakers support small businesses and how they voted on important small business issues.” He highlighted that the General Assembly deliberated on several legislative items impacting the small business sector, such as regulatory reform, workers’ compensation, and tax reductions. Moreland expressed gratitude to the 74 legislators who consistently supported small businesses and conveyed hope for increased legislative backing in future sessions.

For those interested in reviewing individual legislator results and understanding specific issues addressed, further details are available online.

Small business owners continue to express concerns about rising cost pressures and maintain a low level of optimism regarding future business conditions. NFIB monitors key legislative matters identified by its members each session and assigns scores to each member of the General Assembly based on these votes. It is important to note that the 2023-24 NFIB Pennsylvania Voting Record does not encompass all factors considered by lawmakers when casting their votes nor does it offer a comprehensive profile of any legislator. However, it provides valuable insights for small business owners assessing their legislators' stance towards supporting small businesses.
