Rep. Brendan Boyle, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania's 2nd district since 2015, recently shared a series of tweets expressing his views on recent pardons granted by former President Donald Trump. Boyle criticized these actions and questioned the Republican Party's stance on law enforcement.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Boyle highlighted the case of David Dempsey, stating "David Dempsey attacked officers with a flagpole and pepper-sprayed their faces during the Capitol riots." He described Dempsey as a "thug" who committed "targeted, violent assaults on law enforcement," expressing disapproval that Trump allowed him to walk free.

In another tweet posted on the same day, Boyle discussed DJ Rodriguez's actions during the Capitol riots. He noted "DJ Rodriguez tased a police officer so many times the officer suffered a heart attack." Boyle characterized this incident as a "calculated, repeated attack" and criticized Trump's decision to pardon Rodriguez with full GOP support.

In his final tweet from January 23, 2025, Rep. Boyle commented broadly on Trump's pardons, stating "These are just three of the violent thugs Trump pardoned. There are so many more." He accused Republicans of hypocrisy regarding their proclaimed support for police and rule of law and urged followers not to let them rewrite history.
