House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Glenn 'GT' Thompson expressed approval for a recent directive by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. The directive focuses on enforcing eligibility restrictions for food and nutrition programs, ensuring that benefits are designated solely for American citizens and legal residents.

Thompson stated, "I applaud Secretary Rollins for her leadership and commitment to upholding the rule of law. Federal nutrition programs exist to support U.S. citizens and legal residents in need, not those who have broken our laws to enter the country." He further emphasized that by implementing these eligibility requirements, the USDA is "restoring integrity to these programs and ensuring assistance goes to those it was intended to help."

The action aims at preventing illegal aliens from accessing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, aligning with existing federal regulations regarding program eligibility.
