Borough of Brentwood issued the following announcement on Apr 23.
Despite recent positive news regarding the state of the outbreak, the coronavirus continues to have an incalculably large impact on our daily lives. Because this disease is most likely to be transmitted through sustained close contact between individuals, it has precluded the operation of essentially all public functions.
Although the Borough hopes that the transmission rate continues to fall as we approach summer, unfortunately, the available evidence makes it clear that sporting events, concerts, and other events that draw significant crowds will continue to be prohibited until at least this fall.
Consequently, it is with heavy hearts that, at its April 20th business meeting, Brentwood Borough Council formally rescinded all permits associated with its Independence Day celebration. The Borough laments that, for the first time in 101 years, neighbors will not be able to gather on Brownsville Road to honor our country with a parade. This cherished tradition is an integral part of our community fabric, and we look forward to its return.
Brentwood wholeheartedly thanks all of the volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to the success of these festivities, including members of the Parade Committee, Firecracker 5K Race Committee, Brentwood Business Owners Association, and Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company. We hope that you will join us for a celebration that is bigger and better than ever in 2021.
