Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has ruled county election boards throughout Pennsylvania should continue counting ballots but keep those received after Election Day separated.

Alito oversees the region including Pennsylvania.

His move enforces a Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court ruling in which ballots received after Nov. 9 were ordered to be segregated pending voter identification verification.

Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit against all 67 Pennsylvania county boards of election and Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar seeking an injunction to prohibit the boards from permitting absentee and mail-in voters from providing proof of identification after Nov. 9.

The lawsuit also sought to stop late ballots from being counted. Alito did not rule on that portion.

Republicans have filed a spate of lawsuits in swing states post-election seeking to challenge votes based on allegations of voter irregularity.
