Borough of Blawnox issued the following announcement on Dec 14.
Fox Chapel Area School District students will stream their 31st annual telethon Wednesday, December 23, 2020, starting at 11 a.m. For the second year in a row, the telethon will raise money for the Sharpsburg Community Library. The telethon will involve students from all six schools in the Fox Chapel Area School District (Fairview, Hartwood, Kerr, and O’Hara elementaries; Dorseyville Middle School; and Fox Chapel Area High School). Student, teacher, parent, and community representatives will also be participating in the telethon benefitting the Sharpsburg Community Library. The public is invited to make donations through the following website: https://secure.givelively.org//donate/community-library-association/sharpsburg-community-library/fcasd-telethon.
The telethon will premiere on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/swiftfoxmedia. The link to the broadcast will also be available on both the district’s website at www.fcasd.edu and Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/foxchapelarea. Although the telethon will premiere on December 23 at 11 a.m., anyone can watch it any time on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel.
The telethon is coordinated by the Fox Chapel Area High School Student Government and the digital media production students of the high school who plan and produce the event.
The Sharpsburg Community Library is a branch of the Cooper-Siegel Community Library offering a full range of library services: computers for public use; new fiction; non-fiction; DVDs and books on CD; programs for adults including art classes and book groups; and programs for children including story times, chess club, and STEAM programs.
The students in the Fox Chapel Area School District have donated more than $901,950 to various local and regional charities through their annual telethon over the last 30 years. Last year’s telethon for the Sharpsburg Community Library raised $46,521.
