Men's T&F Finishes Fourth at MAC Outdoor Championships

Desales University issued the following announcement on May 5.

The DeSales University men's track & field team placed fourth out of 15 teams at the MAC Outdoor Championships hosted on campus over the last three days.

Saturday's Results

Among the top finishers on day three of the championship were junior Carl Tyce placing second in the 800-meters (1:56.67) and fifth in the 1,500-meters (4:05.56).  Graduate student Andrew Hawk was fifth in the 800-meters (1:57.65) and sophomore Shane Artis finished eighth in the 1,500 (4:08.18).  Sophomore Logan Berner took eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (18.52) and sophomore Kyle Dunbar was third in the 400-meters (50.12).

The 4x100 meter relay finished fourth (43.41) featuring Berner, Dunbar, sophomore Vajon Wilson, and junior Ason Rutledge and the 4x400-meter relay team placed seventh in a time of 3:31.91 featuring Dunbar, Rutledge, Hawk, and Tyce.

In the field events sophomore Xavier Phoenix was second in the triple jump (13.71m), senior Matthew Murray finished third in the shot put (14.59m), graduate student Alessio Brattoli took home sixth in the javelin (42.07m), and senior Patrick Emolo was sixth in the pole vault (4.00m).

Friday's Results

Phoenix won the long jump with a jump of 6.79m.  Senior Matthew Murray took home fourth place in the discus (41.00m) and junior Joey Cummings was third in the steeplechase with a time of 9:49.18.

Qualifying for the finals on Saturday were sophomore Kyle Dunbar iin the 400-meters (50.49), junior Carl Tyce in the 800-meters (1:57.89) and graduate student Andrew Hawk in the 800-meters (1:59.37).

Thursday's Results

DSU earned points in the hammer throw as graduate student Jackie Ni took fifth with a throw of 48.80m and senior Matthew Murray was eighth with a toss of 45.28m.  Junior Matt Santacoloma also earned points taking third in the 10K with a time of 31:53.28.

The 4x800 meter relay placed second in a time of 7:46.24 featuring sophomore Shane Artis, first-year Josh Deremer, graduate student Andrew Hawk, and junior Carl Tyce.
