Donald Trump Jr. spoke at a recent rally for gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, encouraging Pennsylvanians to support Mastriano and pointing out how big a difference a governor can make in a state.
On Friday, Mastriano hosted a rally in Chambersburg, according to a release. At the event, Trump Jr. urged the crowd of approximately 1,500 attendees to support Mastriano in his bid to defeat Josh Shapiro in the upcoming election.
“We need people to get involved, we need to help people like Doug. There is a reason they are going after him so bad. There is a reason why they are spending so much money against him. You’ve seen how important the governorships are. You’ve seen how much of a disaster it can be," Trump Jr. said at the rally.
Mastriano expressed his thanks to Trump Jr. and spoke about bias in mainstream media.
“[Democrats and the media] don’t want to talk about over-taxation, they don’t want to talk about energy prices, they don’t want to talk about inflation, gas prices, how hard it is to live in Pennsylvania today,” Mastriano said.
Trump Jr.'s appearance at Mastriano's rally comes a few weeks after former President Donald Trump appeared at a Mastriano rally in northeastern Pennsylvania, Fox 43 reported. The Democrat nominee for governor, Shapiro, held a rally in Chambersburg the day after Mastriano.
Shortly before the May primary election, Trump endorsed Mastriano saying, "There is no one in Pennsylvania who has done more, or fought harder, for election integrity than State Sen. Doug Mastriano," according to a release. "It is my great honor to give my complete and total endorsement to a man who will never let you down, Doug Mastriano for governor of Pennsylvania!”
Mastriano defeated eight challengers to win the Republican nomination in Pennsylvania's gubernatorial race, according to Ballotpedia. Mastriano and Shapiro will face off in the Nov. 8 general election.
