Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight, 3-0, over Muhlenberg

 The DeSales University women's soccer team won its second straight game blanking local rival Muhlenberg College, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics

  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, Muhlenberg - 0
  • Records: DeSales (5-2-2 overall); Muhlenberg (1-7-1 overall)
  • It is DSU's third straight win over the Mules evening up the all-time series at 4-4-1.
How it Happened

  • DSU took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute that stood into halftime as junior Kerrigan de Meij scored on a beautiful pass thru the defense by sophomore Tori Harnett.
  • The Bulldogs got their insurance goals in the 68th and 77th minutes of the second half as senior Meghan Foley and sophomore Emma Ribeiro each scored their fifth goals of the season to provide the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers

  • Ribeiro has now scored a goal in four straight games and is tied with Foley for the team lead with five goals.
  • de Meij has four goals on the year.
  • In addition to Harnett, senior Sam Monteforte and sophomore Molly McMahon earned assists in the win.
  • Junior Hannah Pacheco made five saves to record her third shutout of the season.
For the Foes

  • Sara Pecorelli made six saves in between the pipes for the Mules.
Inside the Box Score

  • DeSales out-shot Muhlenberg, 20-13, and had a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Bulldogs had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
