Gov. Tom Wolf (D-PA) announced that $10,323,668 will be distributed through the Pennsylvania HOME Investment Partnerships Program for affordable housing in 16 counties across the commonwealth.
HOME is a federally funded program that awards funds to municipalities thorough grant and loan assistance, according to the Official Pennsylvania Government Website. The purpose is to expand and preserve affordable housing for low- and very low-income residents. In Wolf’s final budget, $375 million was secured for safe and affordable housing. This funding will be used for creating new units, as well as repairing existing units and making home repairs.
“Pennsylvanians deserve safe, up-to-code and accessible spaces to call home,” Wolf said, according to the Official Pennsylvania Government Website. “The HOME funding approved today will help provide access to these spaces to individuals across the commonwealth, while also revitalizing communities through renter and new homeowner opportunities.”
The 16 counties included in the program are: Blair, Butler, Columbia, Cumberland, Elk, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Lebanon, Luzerne, Mercer, Mifflin, Northumberland, Susquehanna, Union and Venango.
