Scarlett Johnson, a parent advocate and member of the political organization Moms for Liberty, recently took to Twitter to share a video showing a protester blocking the group's bus at its annual convention in Philadelphia. Protesters were at the convention since the night before when a pre-conference reception was held at the Museum of the American Revolution, according to USA Today.

“Protestor stands in front of our bus in an attempt to force us to stop so his friends can surround us completely,” Johnson posted June 30 on Twitter. “We travel with local police protection, private plainclothes security—and due to credible threats from Antifa—an extra layer of protection was required. It's scary.”

She added in another tweet: “Everything parental rights activists do is because we love what is behind us (our families, community and country), not because we hate what is front of us. For the woke that truth is exactly inverse.”

The USA Today reported that the Moms for Liberty is a parental rights organization established in 2021 by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich in Florida. Since its inception it has expanded across the U.S. and gained attention for its opposition to inclusion of topics like Black history, LGBTQ+ issues and “gender ideology” in school curricula. Last month the Southern Poverty Law Center characterized Moms for Liberty, along with other parental rights groups, as a “hate group".

Since the evening before the bus incident, protesters were assembling outside to voice their opposition to the Moms for Liberty “Joyful Warriors National Summit” held in Philadelphia.

The convention featured notable speakers including Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, as reported by The Guardian. The Museum of the American Revolution, which hosted the pre-conference event, also has faced criticism and backlash for its involvement, according to USA Today.

Moms for Liberty, a group that is only 2 years old, has been touted by the likes of Trump, who recently said at its conference, “Don’t mess with America’s moms,” USA Today reported.

Dr. Jay Richards, who is a senior research fellow and director of the DeVos Center, also posted on Twitter in support of the organization.

“Surrounded by hundreds of women like this in Philadelphia at the Moms for Liberty Summit,” Richards said on Twitter. “Outside, hundreds of protesters who have no idea what they're protesting, creating a tense situation for the police. Do they think moms will give up because they're screaming on a street corner?”

Another tweet came from “gender ideology” protester Chris Elston saying, “We’re at the Museum of the American Revolution which resisted numerous leftist demands to cancel this event, and was vandalized last night because they dared to host several hundred loving moms.”
