David McCormick, a U.S. Senate Candidate from Pennsylvania, has attributed the ongoing border crisis to President Biden's policies and called for their reversal. This statement was made in an op-ed published in the DC Journal on Feb. 21.

"Since Biden used the presidency's powers to put us in this mess, he can use those same powers to fix it,” said McCormick," said Dave McCormick. "The White House must restore the Trump policies that worked. Biden should use every existing authority to finish constructing the border wall, direct Customs and Border Protection to enforce our laws, terminate the ill-conceived smartphone asylum app, stop catch and release, and engage in talks to restore Remain in Mexico."

According to the op-ed, McCormick contended that while Congress possesses some power, it is insufficient to resolve the issue at hand. He expressed his preference for the president reinstating previous laws over Congress drafting new legislation.

McCormick underscored the adverse impacts of the border crisis in his article. "Mexican drug cartels are making billions, funneling migrants worldwide into America," he said. "It’s a situation ripe for exploitation, with thousands of women and children subject to sex trafficking. One report estimated that 60 percent of the unaccompanied kids who cross the border are forced into child pornography, drug trafficking or other unspeakable horrors."

In addition to this, McCormick pointed out that migrants entering the country hail from various parts of the world. He also mentioned that over 170 individuals on the terror watch list have been apprehended at the border so far. According to him, these immigration issues have provided cover for Mexican cartels to smuggle fentanyl and other illicit drugs into the U.S.

Describing the situation at the border as a "humanitarian, national security, and economic crisis of epic proportions," McCormick held Biden's decisions responsible for this state of affairs in his article. He asserted that Biden must reverse his policy to rectify this situation.

McCormick is a Republican candidate running for US Senate from Pennsylvania as stated on his website.
