Today, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in the final of four lawsuits delaying the printing and mailing of ballots to voters beyond the September 16 deadline. In the final case, the state Supreme Court ruled third-party candidate Cornel West would not appear on the state’s November ballot, allowing the Department of State to certify the general election ballot.

The court’s decision means counties can begin their process to mail ballots, including finalizing, proofing, and printing them. Voters can see when their county will have ballots ready here.

Philip Hensley-Robin, Executive Director of Common Cause Pennsylvania, stated: “Today’s decision gives local election workers the green light to start the process of sending ballots to voters, thankfully avoiding any major delays. We are grateful to our elections officials who are working around the clock so we can make our voices heard. Democracy takes time and while voters eagerly await the arrival of their ballots, we encourage everyone to check their registration so they can vote without delay. And don’t forget to sign and date your return envelope!”
