Thompson announces agriculture committee leadership for 119th Congress

Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, has announced the vice chair and subcommittee leadership for the 119th Congress. This announcement marks a significant step in shaping the committee's focus and direction.

"I'm thrilled to welcome both returning and new subcommittee leadership for the 119th Congress, who will lead with strength, expertise, and a shared commitment to advancing the interests of rural America," Thompson stated. He emphasized the importance of supporting American farmers and rural communities by defending food security and strengthening the agricultural economy. A comprehensive farm bill is also a priority.

Rep. Austin Scott from Georgia's 8th district will take on the role of Vice Chair for the Full Committee.

The Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit will be chaired by Rep. Austin Scott with Rep. David Rouzer serving as Vice Chair.

For Forestry and Horticulture, Rep. Doug LaMalfa will serve as Chairman while Rep. Barry Moore assumes the position of Vice Chair.

In Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology, Rep. Frank Lucas leads as Chairman with Rep. Jim Baird as Vice Chair.

Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture sees Rep. Brad Finstad at its helm as Chairman alongside Vice Chair Rep. Monica De La Cruz.

The Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Subcommittee will have Rep. Tracey Mann as Chairman with Rep. Derrick Van Orden stepping in as Vice Chair.

Finally, Dusty Johnson chairs Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development with John Rose acting as Vice Chair.
