The House Republican Steering Committee has selected the Republican members who will serve on the House Committee on Agriculture for the 119th Congress. Following this announcement, Chairman Glenn "GT" Thompson of Pennsylvania issued a statement regarding the new roster.
Chairman Thompson expressed enthusiasm about the composition of the committee, stating, "I’m excited to welcome this strong and diverse group of legislators to the House Committee on Agriculture for the 119th Congress. This is a pivotal time for our farmers, ranchers, and rural communities, so we’ll hit the ground running with rigorous hearings and oversight, all to ensure we deliver legislative victories for rural America and the farm families that guarantee our nation’s food security."
The list of returning members includes Rep. Frank Lucas from Oklahoma, Rep. Austin Scott from Georgia, Rep. Rick Crawford from Arkansas, Rep. Michael Bost from Illinois, among others. New members joining for this Congress include Rep. Dan Newhouse from Washington and Rep. Tony Wied from Wisconsin.
The House Steering Committee is tasked with recommending members to serve on standing committees in the House of Representatives. These recommendations are subject to approval by the House Republican Conference.
