The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that maintenance crews will be working next week to repair deteriorated pavement on more than 60 state highways in the Philadelphia region. The work will cover areas in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
The frequent occurrence of potholes in the Philadelphia region is attributed to the rapid freeze-thaw cycle experienced during the season. PennDOT encourages motorists to report potholes through their Customer Care Center at www.customercare.penndot.pa.gov. Since January 1, 2025, District 6 has received over 2,100 customer concerns regarding potholes.
Travel restrictions and possible slowdowns are expected as crews patch potholes at various locations across the counties. In Bucks County, repairs will occur on U.S. 13 in Falls Township and other major routes such as U.S. 202 and Route 32. Chester County will see work on U.S. 1 and U.S. 30 among others. Delaware County's I-95 and U.S. 13 are also scheduled for repairs, along with several local roads in Montgomery County like Route 63 and Route 152.
In Philadelphia County, major thoroughfares including I-95 and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) are part of the repair plan.
Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and avoid distractions while driving to ensure safety for both themselves and road workers. Patching efforts will continue until all areas are addressed, with activities dependent on weather conditions.
