Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) is under fire from his own party, the Pennsylvania Republican Party, because he voted to have former President Donald Trump impeached during the latter’s second impeachment trial.
According to The Epoch Times, Toomey is being “rebuked” by his own party, although that action is not a political function and has no impact on the senator’s position.
But that didn’t stop the Pennsylvania Republican Party from expressing its displeasure at Toomey in public. The party released a statement saying, “We are outraged that Senator Toomey took part in an impeachment process that facilitated Democrats’ tireless obsession with partisan political retribution.”
The Pennsylvania Republican Party went on to say that Democrats are abusing the impeachment tool and using it as a political weapon to eliminate officials they hold a grudge against. They added that the constant use of impeachment could set a “dangerous precedent” and they are dismayed that Toomey aided the Democrats instead of opposing them.
