DeSales Welcomes Record Class

For the second year in a row, the DSU community welcomed another record-setting class to campus.

First-year students in the Class of 2026 settled into their new home away from home on August 21 and began Orientation 2022. The class currently comprises 511 first-year students with an additional 52 transfer students.

This year’s orientation theme is Toon into Orientation: Animated by Character, and events included a welcome Mass, field day challenges, and the always popular singing, dancing, and talent competitions.

Members of the Class of 2026 also participated in their first service project at DeSales—packaging thousands of meals to benefit Rise Against Hunger, a nonprofit organization providing hunger relief through a global network of volunteers and partners.

“It’s important to help your community,” says Carly Perez ’26 (pictured above, center), a nursing major. “It’s important to give back; you always receive things back in the end.”

Adds Seth Krammes, a medical studies major in the 3+2 year physician assistant program: “I always had a belief that I should give more to those who have less than me, and that everyone should have the opportunity to live the same life that I live.”
