DeSales University Among U.S. News & World Report’s Best National Universities

We’re proud to announce that DeSales University is now ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s Best National Universities.

DeSales ranked 285th among the Best National Universities on the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list. The University previously ranked 73rd in the 2022 edition of Best Colleges Regional Universities North.

In 2021, DeSales’ Carnegie classification changed from a Master’s Colleges and University to a Doctoral/Professional University, which moved DeSales out of the U.S. News & World Report Regional North ranking category to the National Universities ranking category. The change reflects an increase in the number of doctoral programs that DeSales offers.

The University’s other 2023 rankings include:

  • Ranked among top performers on social mobility.
  • Ranked for undergraduate nursing programs.
  • Ranked for A+ for B students.
The 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings were released on September 12th, ranking the academic excellence of colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality. The rankings emphasize student outcomes—including graduation and retention rates—which are indicators of how well a school supports the academic and financial success of its students.

Top social mobility performance rankings are based on a school’s success in enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students who were awarded Pell Grants. In Pennsylvania, DeSales is tied with Carnegie Mellon University and Villanova University in top social mobility performance.

DeSales shares its 285th position with Baker University (KS), Clark University (IA), North Dakota State University (ND), Portland State University (OR), Tennessee Tech University (TN), University of Hawaii at Hilo (HI), University of Montana (MT), University of Nevada, Las Vegas (NV), University of New England (ME), University of North Texas (TX), University of Toledo (OH), Western Michigan University (MI), and Winston-Salem State University (NC).
