NFIB has launched new radio and digital advertisements in Pennsylvania, aiming to persuade Congress members to prevent a significant tax increase on small businesses. The organization is advocating for the passage of the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, which seeks to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent.

"Pennsylvania small businesses cannot afford a 20% tax increase right now and that’s why we’re urging Senator John Fetterman and Senator Bob Casey to pass the Main Street Tax Certainty Act and avoid a massive tax hike on Main Street," stated Melissa Morgan, NFIB Pennsylvania Assistant Director. She added that making the deduction permanent would alleviate one financial burden for small business owners who already face economic challenges.

The ads underscore concerns about a potential tax hike that could impact over 30 million small businesses nationwide. "Small businesses are the foundation of our economy, yet more than 30 million of them are about to face a massive tax hike that would hurt their ability to create jobs and give back to their communities," said NFIB President Brad Close.

The 20% Small Business Deduction was established under the 2017 tax law with an expiration set for the end of 2025. This deduction aimed to provide small businesses with similar benefits as larger corporations. The proposed Main Street Tax Certainty Act intends to extend these benefits indefinitely, thereby avoiding what some see as an impending financial strain on America's small enterprises.
