CITY OF ALLENTOWN: AFD Extending Permits

Fire 11

City of Allentown issued the following announcement on Nov 11.

Due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 case counts, the Allentown Fire Department is extending the permit period of childcare facilities and food establishments.  Those facilities with permits expiring in November and December 2020 and January 2021 are being extended to March 31, 2021.

The department’s inspections cover items like exit signage, working smoking detectors and fire extinguishers installed and tested.  Among other things the facilities are also required to have an approved fire safety plan.

The fire department reminds those establishments to follow state directives on mask wearing, capacity limits and social distancing.

The fire department will continue to perform fire safety inspections while taking every precaution possible.
