Gov. Tom Wolf discussed Pennsylvania’s progress in the transition to clean energy with the Global Clean Energy Action Forum, highlighting some of the important accomplishments his administration has made in the effort, according to a release by the governor's office.
“I’m proud to have the chance to highlight the work that is being done here in Pittsburgh and throughout Pennsylvania to create the change we need to see,” Wolf said. “The transition to a clean-energy future is a necessity for the economy, for workers, and the environment. And just like we always have, Pennsylvania is going to be on the leading edge.”
During the forum, Wolf discussed the creation of a “climate action plan,” setting targets to reduce greenhouse emissions, enacting the largest solar energy commitment in the U.S., installing 1,000 electric vehicle charge stations, creating rules to reduce methane emissions, and Pennsylvania becoming the 12th state to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
The GCEAF is the first organization of its kind that strives to show how the U.S. is the leader in clean energy deployment and innovation. This meeting was to discuss how clean energy transition is a necessity for national security, and how the private sector can get involved in creating a clean energy marketplace worldwide.
He also praised the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.
“These bills will not only help fight climate change, they will provide new, good-paying jobs for unions and trade workers here in Pennsylvania and across the country,” Wolf said.
The session was organized by the U.S. Department of Energy to gather world energy leaders, researchers and other advocates the sharing ideas about the goal of a clean energy transition.
